Why Should I do a TEFL?
TEFL is the standard training qualification for those seeking an English teaching job.
Invest in Yourself
Some native English speakers think that because they have spoken English all their lives they can easily teach it without any formal training. That’s like saying because you’ve always eaten food, you could just walk into a kitchen and become a five star chef.
Do you want to know what you’re doing when you stand in front of your students?
Vantage TEFL will give you the foundational skill set to formulate a targeted lesson plan and then confidently deliver a successful English class to your students.

We'll give you the teaching tools and the know-how and classroom skills to become the best teacher you can be.
Enter the classroom confidently—prepared to successfully teach English
A TEFL Certification that's "Good for Life"
The best schools want the best teachers, so teaching English today is an increasingly competitive market.
Even where a school hasn't explicitly listed a TEFL as a requirement, it is always noticed. It could be the differentiating factor between you and another candidate.
Your Vantage accredited TEFL qualification demonstrates that you're a professional instructor who will be successful in the classroom.

A TEFL certificate is highly regarded by international employers and could be the distinguishing factor between you and another candidate.
The Best Jobs
You can't get around the fact the best teaching positions go to the best candidates. You can read anecdotal stories online about those who obtained their teaching position without TEFL certification. Yet, if when true, these are often not the most desirable jobs.
Your chances of being invited to interview are greatly increased when you demonstrate to a potential employer that you have both studied teaching content theory and have practiced those techniques on actual non-English speaking students in observed teaching classes.
These observed teaching practices—the practicum—are a crucial ingredient to developing the skill set to becoming a professional teacher. That's why many of the better schools don't consider a TEFL training course without a "practicum" to be a valid teaching credential.
Shortcuts May Bite Back

That cheap online-only TEFL course may get you a job somewhere today. But what if you find you really like teaching. And you discover that you're really good at it.
Now you're an experienced instructor, with a number of years of solid teaching experience. But you could get a surprise when you apply for a great teaching position at a prestigious school with a very generous compensation package, and they don't call you back. Your online-only TEFL qualification didn't meet their basic qualifications so you didn't make their short list to interview.
Yes, you may now be a great teacher with lots of good experience, but so will many of the candidates you're are competing with.
At Vantage, we’ve trained experienced teachers—some with 15 years in the classroom—because they weren’t TEFL-certified and they weren’t getting invited in to interview for the level of positions they now wanted.
Bottom line: TEFL certifications without a practicum are not accepted at many of the best schools
Consider too that your Vantage TEFL Certification could increase your salary by $100 to $200 per month—at least $1,200 over the course of a year. That would essentially repay your TEFL tuition just from the extra salary.
